No map today, because we didn't really go anywhere!
Big thanks to David and Christina, at Weissbriach 26. Lovely place, excellent food, stimulating company!
We started with and excellent breakfast, then went off with David to sort lunch out, maybe somewhere in Italy. Nice try, but the pass was closed, so we had soup and a bun in Nassfeld, the resort on the border.
Next it was shopping - briquettes, Valentino, ice. And maybe a warm hat for me, having forgotten mine. Briquettes sorted in the local hardware store, with a close examination of the large range of tools while the useful chap fetched the the faux logs. Then the hat search began. This also required the checking out of various bits of ski equipment in Horst's interesting shop, until Jim expedited things by negotiating a 16% discount on a nice little number, bringing the price into a sensible region. A few minutes were taken to check out the local jewellers - boring, not very good. The hat was almost too warm!
At that point David had to go sort wine with Valentino, so JnJ were dragged into a cafe and forced to drink coffee and eat complex chocolate-based cakes. Drat. Eventually David turned up with wine on board and so time to head home.
Still ice to be obtained! A stop at the Weissbriach drinking hole to get some ice from the patron was the approach. Obviously, a convivial beer or three were involved, and a long and occasionally heated discussion with Alfred, the Powell's web and publicity provider. With him invited for another beer and a possible snack, time to get back for dinner. The ice was not forgotten.
An excellent dinner, venison and vegetarian, the magic zucchini in mustard sauce and onions in balsamic vinegar, not to mention the polenta roasties. Alfred had a small plate to put him on until he could get home, at least five minutes away. And another beer.
At some point David was challenged to get it out and put it on the table, so he dug out his 40th anniversary Fender Strat and matching amp, and various noodling noises were made, at a range of volumes, from the quiet, reverberant whisper to the "Holy crap dude, better check that setting before the police arrive!!".
And then it was bedtime. Another hard day at the office navigated with our customary flair and insouciance.
